Church Leadership in Focus
An interview with Sal Ferlise, CEO of The Sports Outreach Institute.
On todays Episode of Church Leadership in Focus Our Host Don Hicks will interview Sal Ferlise Chief Executive Officer of The Sports Outreach Institute.
After spending 20 years in Business Management roles at age 40, God took Sal’s life in a new direction. After volunteering with Sports Outreach for close to a year, Sal officially joined the team as the COO/CFO. In 2017, he was named CEO. Sal will often refer to himself as a “mule”, as a way of acknowledging that it is only through God’s grace and hard work that he can accomplish anything. Or you may hear the term “Dot Connector”, which speaks to his passion to use strategy, resources, and encouragement to help people and organizations achieve greater results. Sal loves to stay involved in anything encouraging growth and serving at Sports Outreach. Our mission to train, equip, and deploy leaders, as well as restore hope and transform lives, certainly satisfies this passion. He is married to his wife of 28 years, Toni, and has a daughter, Elizabeth, son-in-law Jon, and two grandchildren, Isabella and Ace, whom he adores and spends most of his free time with.
The mission of the Sports Outreach Institute (SOI) is to recruit, train, equip, and deploy committed Christian leaders in the effective use of sports ministry for the purposes of sharing the Gospel and alleviating human suffering.
